Healing through dialogue, self-expression, creativity and connection
Welcome, and thank you for visiting
I’m Rachel, an accredited trauma-informed and relational psychotherapist. I work alongside clients who have experienced relational trauma, including interpersonal violence, and families affected by substance use and addiction, who wish to improve their mental health and relationships.
Throughout my career as a teacher, school leader, wellbeing practitioner and psychotherapist, I have worked with families to improve wellbeing, communication and relationships which are at the heart of positive change. I am an advocate for neurodiverse people with understanding of the challenges this may bring and have experience of working with neurodiverse clients as well as their neurotypical loved ones.

I have obtained a first-class masters in humanistic psychotherapy, an approach that prioritises empathy, authenticity and each person's innate capacity to growth and change. My approach is predominantly relational, facilitating self-understanding through psychoeducation, dialogue, creativity and connection at a pace that suits you. There is no single therapeutic approach that fits everyone, given unique lived experiences and personal preferences. Sessions may include cognitive interventions to help reframe experiences. You may also wish to learn about the neurobiology of trauma, how our brains and bodies adapt to survive in the world, and begin to thrive as we heal in the present moment.
As a trained yoga teacher and somatic practitioner, you may consider incorporating body-based, emotionally focused interventions or art-based techniques during our work together. I'll encourage & support new ways of relating to yourself and others, empowering you to make choices that align with your values and needs. Whilst therapy can be challenging, it can also bring a sense of joy and wonder, fostering greater self-awareness and the ability to respond to life’s challenges with more flexibility, compassion, and resilience.
Therapy takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.
Are you experiencing difficulties with stress, anxiety, overcoming trauma, or in personal or professional relationships? Therapy gives us a set of tools we can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.
Working together, we can gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, make sense of your experiences and reactions, and enable more choice over your future life.
People come to me for help with a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through psychotherapy:
Understanding Stress, PTSD and CPTSD;
